HALL OF FAME CERTIFIED
INSTRUCTORS PROGRAM

To: ATA Membership

From: Trapshooting Hall of Fame Board of Trustees

Subject: Trapshooting Instructor Certification Test

The test for certification of Hall of Fame instructors has been revised and is now available. The manual for Hall of Fame instructors has been revised and is available also (cover photo above). ATA members that are interested in instructing basic trapshooting to students of any age may request the instructors test by contacting the Hall of Fame office by e-mail, hof@shootata.com, or phone (937) 898-4638 ext. 528.

After successfully completing the instructors test a certificate is prepared and sent along with a Trapshooting Hall of Fame Certified Instructor patch as well as the new NRA-ATA Lesson Plan booklet.  All Certified Instructors in the Hall of Fame Program are entitled to materials to assist them with their instruction. These teaching aids include a copy of the NRA/ATA Trapshooting Camp Lesson Plans (manual), a video by Phil Kiner (Phil Kiner’s Trapshooting Clinic) or Kay Ohye (Fundamentals of Shotgun Shooting). In addition, when the certified instructors send the names and addresses of students who complete the course of instruction to the Hall of Fame, a certificate will be prepared for each of the instructor’s students (the completed certificates are returned to the instructors for distribution to the students).

Introducing young people to the lifetime sport of trapshooting is a goal of the Hall of Fame. Youth participation is encouraged through a training program for Junior-Senior High School and college levels. Stressing gun safety, instruction, competition, and fellowship, these programs are provided at no cost. Special events are held for students including the State and Provincial ATA Championships. An annual scholarship award is offered to students participating in the Youth Trapshooting Program.
